Garfield Catches Lions for Lambs

British newcomer Andrew Garfield will star in United Artists ensemble drama Lions for Lambs, says The Hollywood Reporter.

The Robert Redford-directed film marks theater maven Garfield’s feature film debut, in which he will appear opposite co-stars Redford, Tom Cruise, Meryl Streep, Michael Pena and Derek Luke.

Based on a screenplay by Matthew Michael Carnahan, the story features three interconnected plotlines: a congressman who interacts with a journalist; an idealistic professor who attempts to inspire a privileged student in his class; and a pair of American soldiers wounded in enemy territory in Afghanistan, one of whom is the professor’s former student.

Andrew Hauptman, Carnahan, Tracy Falco and Redford are producing. MGM will distribute the film domestically.
