Al Pacino will play artist Salvador Dali in Dali & I: The Surreal Story, with Andrew Niccol directing, says Variety. Room 9 Entertainment has set a June start date in New York and Spain.
Niccol, who previously directed Pacino in S1m0ne, is rewriting a John Salvati-scripted adaptation of the Stan Lauryssen book “Dali and I.” The film is produced by Room 9 partners David O. Sacks, Daniel Brunt and Michael R. Newman, who are coming off Thank You for Smoking.
The film covers the latter days of Dali and Niccol said that was when the surrealist painter decided to take his career in a most surreal direction.
