American actress and comedian Jan Hooks passed away this morning in New York City, her representative, Lisa Lieberman, confirmed.
No more details on her death were given, though she was reportedly battling a serious illness.
Hooks was a repertory player on “Saturday Night Live” from 1986 through 1991 and continued to make cameo appearances until 1994. She also had a regular role on the final two seasons of “Designing Women.”
In 1998, she was nominated for an Emmy for a guest starring role on “3rd Rock From the Sun.”
Hooks made a cameo appearance in 1992’s Batman Returns as Jen, the Penguin’s image consultant.
