Comic-Con: Game of Thrones’ Maisie Williams Eyed for The Last of Us

In March, Screen Gems announced that the studio will distribute the live-action adaptation of The Last of Us. Today, they held a panel at the San Diego Comic-Con that was attended by the film’s producer, Sam Raimi, and Naughty Dog Creative Director Neil Druckmann, who is writing the movie.

You can read the archived version of our live blog here, but one of the highlights was a mention of an actress they are eyeing for the role of Ellie in the movie. Druckmann mentioned that they met with “Game of Thrones” star Maisie Williams! While there’s no deal, what do you think about the possible casting? And who should play Joel? Let us know in the comments below.

The Last of Us follows hardened survivor, Joel, and Ellie, a young and capable girl, on their journey through a radically transformed world. Set twenty years after an infectious pandemic spread by the cordyceps virus ravaged the course of humanity, these two people, who were brought together by chance, must make life-altering decisions in order to survive. The Last of Us explores themes of survival, loyalty, love, and redemption in an emotionally charged expedition across a post-epidemic United States.

The studio also released this special Comic-Con limited edition poster for the film!
