It’s been some time since there was last an update on the status of a big screen sequel to Walt Disney Pictures’ 2007 hit Enchanted, but the project appears to have gained some serious traction today as Deadline reports that the studio has signed J. David Stem and David N. Weiss (The Smurfs, Shrek 2) to provide the screenplay.
Enchanted starred Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden, Timothy Spall, Idina Menzel, Rachel Covey and Susan Sarandon, although it is uncertain who among them is planning to return for the sequel, which has Anne Fletcher (The Guilt Trip, 27 Dresses) attached to helm.
Kevin Lima directed the original, which earned an impressive $340.5 million worldwide.
