Nathan Fillion Teases Guardians of the Galaxy Role

With Captain America: The Winter Soldier now in theaters, Marvel Studios’ next big screen release is the penultimate “Phase Two” entry, Guardians of the Galaxy, written and directed by James Gunn. Since “Firefly” and “Castle” star Nathan Fillion has worked quite a bit with Gunn in the past, one fan asked him during a St. Louis Comic-Con panel whether or he wanted a part in the August 1 release.

“[Want] to get a part?” Fillion said with a smirk. “Or maybe did. I’m just saying maybe. Maybe it’ll be a surprise. Maybe check the credits of the movie when you watch it.”

As you can see in the video below (posted to YouTube by fan “Jamie K.”), Fillion’s tone makes it a pretty solid bet that he’ll be appearing in Guardians of the Galaxy in some capacity. The fact that he’s asking us to check the credits, however, might suggest that the part is either a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo or, given Gunn’s penchant for practical effects, Fillion may wind up a completely unrecognizable alien species.

Guardians of the Galaxy features an unlikely cast of characters who must team up in order to defeat a cosmic force of epic proportions. The August 1 release stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Benicio del Toro, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close, Gregg Henry, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel.
