50 Cent Set to Spy Opposite Melissa McCarthy

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson will be playing himself opposite Melissa McCarthy in writer/director Paul Feig’s upcoming comedy actioner Spy (formerly titled Susan Cooper). The Hollywood Reporter has the news, bringing word that the musician-turned-actor will appear opposite Melissa McCarthy, Jude Law, Jason Statham, Rose Byrne, Miranda Hart, Bobby Cannavale and Nia Long.

First announced shortly after the successful opening of their The Heat, Spy marks the third big screen team-up for Feig and McCarthy. In addition to The Heat, the pair worked together on 2011’s Bridesmaids, which grossed more than $288 million worldwide.

Feig wrote the script, which is said not to be a spoof, and will produce through his first look deal at Fox with Feigco Entertainment banner along with the company’s new executive VP Jessie Henderson and Fox’s Daria Cercek overseeing.

Jackson recently starred opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone in Escape Plan.
