Kate Winslet Targets Jon Hillcoat’s Triple Nine

Kate Winslet is the latest name said to be connected with Jon Hillcoat’s upcoming crime thriller Triple Nine. Variety reports that Winslet is eyeing a leading role (likely the same one recently eyed by Cate Blanchett) opposite the now-attached Casey Affleck and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Featuring a screenplay by Matt Cook, Triple Nine centers on a L.A. heist in which a group of thieves plan to kill a cop (a “Code 999” in police parlance) to divert authorities from their own crime scene across town.

Winslet is in theaters now, starring opposite Josh Brolin in Jason Reitman’s Labor Day. She’ll soon appear in Neil Burger’s franchise-launching Divergent, which hits theaters March 21.

Bard Dorros, Steve Golin and Keith Redmon are producing through Anonymous Content with Megan Ellison financing through Panorama Media.

Update: Deadline is reporting that Open Road has picked up the project and that Gal Gadot (Batman vs. Superman), Michael B. Jordan (Fruitvale Station), Teresa Palmer (Warm Bodies) Michael Pena (End of Watch) and Aaron Paul (Need for Speed) are all in talks to join as well.
