Michael Douglas Talks About What Drew Him to Ant-Man

Yesterday came the surprise announcement that two-time Academy Award winner Michael Douglas will play Hank Pym in the upcoming Ant-Man feature film. Now in an interview with Reuters, Douglas spoke about what drew him to the project:

“I’ve been dying to do a Marvel picture for so long. The script is really fun, the director is really good. Dylan (the actor’s 13-year-old son) will love it. He’ll have a picture he can see.”

Fresh off the heels of his Golden Globe victory for  Steven Soderbergh’s Behind the Candelabra, Douglas also said that he wants to surprise the studios and audiences alike with Ant-Man.

“Sometimes – like (when) they didn’t see you for Liberace – you’ve got to shake them up a little bit and have some fun.”

Douglas will star opposite Paul Rudd in the Edgar Wright film, which is set for release on July 31, 2015.
