Landscape Entertainment announced today that Lionsgate has acquired the North American rights to director Phil Alden Robinsons feature The Angriest Man in Brooklyn, starring Robin Williams, Mila Kunis, Melissa Leo, Peter Dinklage and Hamish Linklater. Landscape Entertainments Bob Cooper & Tyler Mitchell produced the film with Daniel J. Walker of Force Majeure. The film was financed by MICA Entertainment and Vedette Finance and shot on location in Brooklyn, NY last fall. Cargo Entertainment is handling foreign sales; WME brokered the domestic deal.
Written by Daniel Taplitz, The Angriest Man in Brooklyn is the story of Henry Altmann (Williams), who is having a horrible day, made much worse by his visit with Dr. Sharon Gill (Kunis), who abruptly informs him that he only has 90 minutes to live. After storming out of the hospital in disbelief, Henry panics and races through Brooklyn in an attempt to right all of the wrongs in his life, while Sharon desperately scrambles to find him and get him into surgery.
“We are thrilled that Lionsgate has come aboard for ‘The Angriest Man in Brooklyn,’” says Robinson. “The film features incredible performances by Robin and Mila and a great supporting cast. We cannot wait to share it with audiences across the country. The film pushes us all to face the hypothetical question, ‘What is important in your life? What is important to you?’”
“This is a wonderful film that will be a great day and date theatrical/VOD specialty release for us,” said Marc Danon, Lionsgate Vice President of Acquisitions and Business Development. “Robin Williams and Mila Kunis highlight an immensely talented cast and we look forward to working with Bob and Tyler on this feature.”
