Robert Zemeckis Takes Marwencol

Robert Zemeckis has found a new directing project in Marwencol, a narrative take on Jeff Malmberg’s 2010 documentary of the same name.

Marwencol tells the true story of Mark Hogancamp, a man who, after being nearly beaten to death, fell into a nine-day coma. When he finally awoke, his memory was gone. As a means of therapy, he built Marwencol, a 1:6 scale fantasy world with dolls crafted in the images of himself and those around him.

Caroline Thompson, best known for scripting Edward Scissorhands, is providing the screenplay, which is expected to blend narratives set in both the real world and in Marwencol.
