While James Cameron has been working on the three Avatar sequels for a long time already, his lead actor Sam Worthington revealed today to the Fitzy & Wippa show on NovaFM that the actual filming with actors will begin this time next year.
“They are still writing it,” Worthington said, before joking, “I think Jim is building the ship to Pandora, to be honest.” He added, “We are going to start this time next year and we will do two, three and four. In one shot, we’ll do them simultaneously. I’ll be grateful if it finishes.”
The release of the first sequel will be in December 2016, with the second to follow in December 2017, and the third a year later. Avatar 2, 3, and 4 will be produced by Cameron and Jon Landau through their Lightstorm Entertainment banner.
Earlier this week, we also got a first look at the Avatar-inspired land coming to Walt Disney World in 2017.
