With the film hitting theaters next Friday, October 18, the viral marketing for director Kimberly Peirce’s Carrie is hitting in some very surprising ways. In the player below, you can check out an incredible telekinetic prank pulled on unsuspecting New York coffee shop patrons, the brainchild of viral video marketing agency Thinkmodo.

Starring Chloë Grace Moretz, Judy Greer, Portia Doubleday, Alex Russell, Gabriella Wilde, Ansel Elgort and Julianne Moore, Carrie is a reimagining of the classic horror tale about Carrie White (Moretz), a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother (Moore), who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom.

Based on the best-selling novel by Stephen King, Carrie is directed by Peirce with a screenplay by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.
