Brenton Thwaites Boards Gods of Egypt

Brenton Thwaites has now taken a leading role in Alex Proyas’ Gods of Egypt, Deadline reports. He joins Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Geoffrey Rush and Gerard Butler in the fantasy epic.

Proyas is directing from an original screenplay by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama. The film tells the story of a common thief teaming with Gods on a magical quest. Coster-Waldau is playing Horus, God of the Sky, who teams with Hathor, the Goddess of Love, and the human thief to avenge the death of his father, Osiris.

A relatively new face to American audiences, Thwaites is well-known in Australia for leading roles on the television series “SLiDE” and “Home and Away.” He also has a number of major big screen projects in the pipeline, including director Robert Stromberg’s Sleeping Beauty-inspired Maleficent and Phillip Noyce’s Maleficent.
