Universal Pictures presents an all-star panel featuring talent from two of its highly-anticipated summer films. In attendance will be stars and filmmakers from the action-comedy Kick-Ass 2. Attending from Riddick will be the action-adventure’s star/producer Vin Diesel (Fast & Furious 6), along with actors Katee Sackhoff (“Battlestar Galactica”) and Dave Bautista (The Man with the Iron Fists) and the film’s writer/director David Twohy (The Fugitive).

ComingSoon.net: Hi everyone. It looks like the Veronica Mars panel is running a bit long, but stay tuned.
ComingSoon.net: The panel will start once we hear from Silas, our writer in Hall H.
Comment From zombie bro
any idea if Riddick or Kick Ass will be first?
ComingSoon.net: They usually go by the order they are listed in the program, so it should be Kick-Ass 2 first.
Comment From MarvelWatch
Odds of Universal throwing in a surprise announcement not related to these films?
ComingSoon.net: Jurassic Park 4? Hmmm
ComingSoon.net: To answer the questions in the comments. It’s supposed to start at 12:15 Pacific Time, but they are running slightly behind.
Comment From Movieguy
is jim carrey going to be there? He kinda dropped the marketing of the movie, right?
ComingSoon.net: We’re not sure, good question.
EDouglasCS: Jurassic Park 4 isn’t until 2015 and Universal is not known for surprise announcements so I doubt it.
Spencer Perry: I wouldn’t put money on Jim Carrey being there 🙂
EDouglasCS: I doubt Jim Carrey will be there.
EDouglasCS: Jurassic Park III wasn’t so bad, JS!!
ComingSoon.net: E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial 2?
EDouglasCS: No announcements… they’ll stick to their game plan with just the two upcoming movies.
ComingSoon.net: We shall see.
Comment From Kane
Im confused , what is happening in this panel for Kick Ass 2?
ComingSoon.net: They haven’t started yet.
Comment From Guest
Will be Riddick be a direct remake of the first Riddick movie?
Spencer Perry: To my knowledge it’s a new film in the series
EDouglasCS: Kane, they’ll probably show a clip and talk about the movie, same with Riddick.
Comment From belg
godzilla first trailer ??
ComingSoon.net: The Warner Bros. panel is tomorrow.
Comment From GieMan
Any idea on how the long the delay will be before they get started?
EDouglasCS: It’s only scheduled to start at 12:15 Pacific, should start within 5-10
Comment From Bob
What about “47 ronin”?
EDouglasCS: You would think… there’ s a new trailer next week so maybe they’ll preview it.
ComingSoon.net: That’s a good guess.
Comment From emergingeffigy
Who’s gonna be showing up for Kickass?
ComingSoon.net: They didn’t announce it, we’ll find out very soon.
EDouglasCS: I’d guess that Aaron Taylor-JOhnson, Chloe Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse will be there for Kick-Ass, maybe Clark Duke too
EDouglasCS: And I wouldn’t be surprised if ATJ hangs around for the Marvel panel too. HOpefully they have his sister cast by then.
ComingSoon.net: Maybe Jim Carrey in a Godzilla suit. Will that make the commenters happy who are asking about the Godzilla trailer? 🙂
EDouglasCS: “I will promote Godzilla since I still approve of giant monster violence”
EDouglasCS: One of our readers says that Chloe isn’t even in San Diego.. she’s probably making a movie, so there you go.
Comment From Jason
Chloë not at Comic Con: https://twitter.com/ChloeGMoretz/status/358301487098626048

Comment From kayell

ComingSoon.net: Silas. He’ll come on right before they start.
Comment From Gabriel
what about Diesel dropping something about Marvel?
ComingSoon.net: Maybe, but that would probably be during the Marvel panel tomorrow.
Comment From Kane
I love this website , been here since 2008
ComingSoon.net: We love you, too!
EDouglasCS: If someone in the audience asks Vin about it, he might answer.. unless they vet his question.
Comment From Oleg
“Just released! New @kickassthemovie NSFW trailer straight out of #SDCC! #KickAss2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nje6dcArZrI”
Comment From Gene
How packed is the hall? We r In line outside and we have not moved an inch. As far as we can see, no one has left the hall.
ComingSoon.net: People probably won’t leave until after Walking Dead and Game of Thrones.
EDouglasCS: Here comes Silas who is covering most of the stuff in Hall H today.
ComingSoon.net: Just got word that they should be starting in about 5 minutes.
Silas Lesnick: Hey everyone! We’re live in Hall H and the panel is just beginning now!
ComingSoon.net: They just posted the Red Band trailer online Silas, see link above.
Silas Lesnick: They’re warning that these are going to be two very R-rated panels.
EDouglasCS: Questions: already answered, we doubt they’ll mention JP4 this time around, Chloe Moretz is shooting The Equalizer with Denzel
Silas Lesnick: Comic creators Mark Millar and John Romita Jr. have taken the stage!
Silas Lesnick: Along with Kick-Ass 2 director Jeff Wadlow!
Silas Lesnick: Jeff is talking about how big a fan of the first film he was when he saw it in theaters.
Silas Lesnick: He was given the job because his script was so close to his pitch that Matthew Vaughn was impressed by his dedication.
Silas Lesnick: Aaron Taylor Johnson has joined everyone on stage and they’re showing a montage of character footage.
EDouglasCS: That trailer looks great and a lot closer to the comics than the first movie.
ComingSoon.net: We’re getting a lot of comments about other movies/studios. This live blog is about Universal’s Kick-Ass 2 and Riddick panel. Stay tuned for more live blogs coming up on the site.
Silas Lesnick: Aaron is saying that Jeff’s script blew him away and really expands the world of the first film.
Silas Lesnick: “Each character has a roller coaster that they go on. A life-changing one,” Aaron says.
Silas Lesnick: Christopher Mintz-Plasse has arrived!
Silas Lesnick: He got a clip intro where Chris D’Amico is talking to John Leguizamo’s Javier.
Silas Lesnick: “You’re like Alfred to my evil Bruce Wayne,” he says.
Silas Lesnick: “Are you calling me your butler?!” Javier shoots back.
Silas Lesnick: “I’m wearing a gimp outfit in this movie,” Christoper laughs.
Silas Lesnick: The biggest elements from the comic that have been removed are a rape scene and the death of a dog.
Silas Lesnick: No Chloe Grace Moretz today, unfortunately, but they’re showing off a Hit-Girl montage.
Silas Lesnick: Wait, Chloe is here! Sort of! She’s just come on live via satellite from Boston.
EDouglasCS: Sounds like they’re sticking closer to the comics this time which makes sense since the first Kick-Ass wasn’t complete when they wrote the screenplay for the movie.
Silas Lesnick: She’s talking about the changes to Hit-Girl this time around, giving up life of crime and trying to fit in in high school.
Silas Lesnick: She comes to realize, though, that Mindy Macready and Hit-Girl are the same person.
Silas Lesnick: There’s a big transition between the way her character plays now that Nicolas Cage’s Big Daddy is gone and she sort of replaces that connection by developing her connection to Kick-Ass.
Silas Lesnick: He comes to her for training and they form a serious connection.
Silas Lesnick: “Nic’s presence in the movie is still very, very strong,” Chloe says. “He’s sort of this looming figure as Big Daddy.”
Silas Lesnick: Chloe says she loves playing characters that are completely opposite of her own personality, listing both Hit-Girl and Carrie as perfect examples.
Silas Lesnick: Chloe’s out, unfortunately, to get back to filming in Boston.
Silas Lesnick: Mark is joking that she’s actually just in hotel room here in San Diego.
Silas Lesnick: Lindy Booth, John Leguizamo and Donald Faison are here!
Silas Lesnick: They’re about to show the Red Band trailer that came online earlier.
Silas Lesnick: Apparently, this one is actually toned down a bit for Hall H.
EDouglasCS: I remember when Hall H was nervous about R-Rated material but when you have Walking Dead and Game of Thrones following, what can you do?
Comment From Dimitri
Have they begun taking questions or are live blog questions not allowed lol.
EDouglasCS: The panel is only taking questions from the moderator and those in the audience who line up.
Silas Lesnick: Jeff is talking about how incredible Olga Kurkulina is as Mother Russia. She’s the result of a worldwide search and doesn’t speak any english.
EDouglasCS: Danne, the Kick-Ass trailer will be on CS and SHH soon.
Comment From Aerialgreen
Is Chloe Moretz filming on Boston for this movie (KA2) or other project?
Silas Lesnick: Aerialgreen, Kick-Ass 2 is wrapped as far as production goes. I believe she’s in Boston to shoot The Equalizer.
EDouglasCS: Kick-Ass 2 is done… it’s coming out in four weeks, so is Carrie.
EDouglasCS: Re: JP4 questions. I doubt it. Universal isn’t big on “hints” or “reveals”… they have their plan and they stick with it.
EDouglasCS: That’s really a Marvel thing.
Silas Lesnick: John Leguizamo’s favorite scene is where Chris has to clean up his mother’s possessions after she passes away and they come across a large box of adult toys.
EDouglasCS: I expect Jurassic Park 4 to be big at Comic-Con next year. It hasn’t officially been announced for 2015 as far as I know.
Silas Lesnick: Jeff is aware that a Kick-Ass 3 could happen, but isn’t ready to begin thinking about it yet.
Silas Lesnick: Donald’s favorite scene is a massive fight with him and Aaron. He says he had to sleep for 24 hours afterwards while Aaron went directly to work the next day.
Silas Lesnick: “Aaron and I have a whole different kind of physical scene,” says Lindy.
EDouglasCS: Jeff has a number of other projects in development including X-Force
Silas Lesnick: No fan questions, it seems. They’re clearing the cast off now and Riddick should begin in moments.
EDouglasCS: That sucks…. I’m sure the fans had questions too… mostly about Jim Carrey.
Silas Lesnick: If you’re in San Diego, though, there’ll be a Kick-Ass 2 fan zone on Saturday from 11 to 5.
Silas Lesnick: Look for it at Island and Eighth Ave.
ComingSoon.net: You get to kick each other’s ass?
Silas Lesnick: We’ll have to see on Saturday 🙂
Spencer Perry-SHH: Who wins in a brawl among the CS writers?
Silas Lesnick: I’m going to go silent for just a moment, but will be back with Riddick in just a few. It looks like they’re taking a slight break.
Spencer Perry-SHH: If you guys missed the extended red band trailer for Kick-Ass 2 you can watch it here http://www.superherohype.com/news/articles/178261-comic-con-extemded-red-band-trailer-for-kick-ass-2
Silas Lesnick: It’s starting!
EDouglasCS: Patience… every panel you want to see covered at Comic-Con will be covered 🙂
Silas Lesnick: Writer-director David Twohy is the first to take the stage!
Silas Lesnick: He’s talking about coming to SDCC 13 years ago for Pitch Black with a then-unknown Vin Diesel.
Silas Lesnick: You mention Katee Sackhoff in Hall H, and it gets pretty loud!
Silas Lesnick: She’s about to come on stage and they’re showing off a clip of her character, Dahl. Her job is to hunt down Riddick.
Silas Lesnick: Wow, she’s dressed in a pretty stunning outfit. “I cut six inches off my dress last night,” she laughs.
Silas Lesnick: And now it’s time for Riddick himself, Mr. Vin Diesel!
Comment From Odinson
I visit CS everyday and have been for ages, love you guys and I’m so incredibly thankful for the SDCC coverage every year!! Bring on RIDDICK, love vin and the franchise this is gonna be epic!!!
Silas Lesnick: He’s wearing a shirt that says FURYAN across the front.
Silas Lesnick: Vin is comparing Riddick to Fast & Furious’ Dom.
Silas Lesnick: “I think that, at the core of the Riddick character, he’s driven by a quest for identity,” Vin says.
Silas Lesnick: “Science fiction fans are the best fans in the world,” Katee laughs, “They’ll watch things you should give them their money back for and love every minute of it. And then create drinking games for it.”
Silas Lesnick: “I think my gun was the biggest one,” laughs Katee.
Silas Lesnick: Vin is now talking about how much he loves to play “Dungeons & Dragons”. “It’s a training ground for imagination,” he says.
Silas Lesnick: “I have friends who make fun of me for it,” laughs Vin. “They keep saying I’m trying to DM Hollywood.”
Silas Lesnick: “I think the fantasy role-playing world I was so immersed in ended up playing out in the way I approached [Riddick’s] mythology.”
Silas Lesnick: He’s talking about how fond he is of the Riddick character and the struggle to keep bringing him back to the big screen.
Silas Lesnick: In many ways, the R-rating helped them make a more intense film and eased budget-concerns.
Silas Lesnick: The film is designed to play both for those familiar with the other two movies as well as play on its own.
Silas Lesnick: Here comes a clip….
EDouglasCS: Sorry folks, to ask a question of the panel, Silas would have to leave his seat and stand in line from the beginning…
EDouglasCS: If you want to get your own questions asked, you’ll have to go to Comic-Con and get into Hall H! 🙂
Silas Lesnick: It’s actually an extended trailer, which means it’s likely to be online eventually.
Silas Lesnick: The footage opens with a small flying dragon creature. It lands by a rocky nest in the mountains. Lying there is a bloody hand.
Silas Lesnick: The creature starts to nip at the hand, but the hand springs to life and grabs the beast’s neck. It’s Riddick.
Silas Lesnick: We see a small shack where a number of people, Dahl included, are getting ready to execute Riddick.
Silas Lesnick: “No matter what happens,” Riddick says to his lead captor, “No matter what they tell you, when the chains come off, you go in the first five seconds.”
Silas Lesnick: The captor doesn’t care and raises a machete to slice off his head. He’s interrupted at the last second, though, by strange noises outside.
Silas Lesnick: “Time’s up,” says Riddick.
ComingSoon.net: The trailer is now live! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1Dm9zRogpE&hd=1
Silas Lesnick: Check out the trailer for yourself! 🙂
Silas Lesnick: Fans are asking questions. One guy is talking about Pitch Black helped him conquer his fear of the dark.
Silas Lesnick: “I can tell a level of badass rising in you as you speak,” Vin tells him, “I can tell with every syllable your badass-ness is rising.”
Silas Lesnick: Katee is talking about Dahl’s backstory. We don’t get to see in the film so much, but she felt it was important to herself to flesh it out.
Silas Lesnick: “There is a lightness that she brings to it. She’s funny and ironic, but there’s a darkness… She’s constantly punishing herself and putting herself into situations where she will get hurt.”
Silas Lesnick: She identifies with the darkness in Riddick, Katee says of Dahl’s connection to the character.
Silas Lesnick: “What’s the one thing we don’t know about Riddick from these films?”
Silas Lesnick: “That’s tricky,” says Vin. “Because that’s the next film.”
Silas Lesnick: Someone is asking Vin about his potential Marvel role…
Silas Lesnick: “What is your VISION for the future of Marvel movies?” was the fairly loaded question.
Silas Lesnick: He’s not allowed to talk about it, but he does say, “There is some very big news coming at the end of this month.”
Silas Lesnick: Looks like that’s the end, but we’ll be right back in a bit for The Walking Dead! Thanks for reading!
