Johnny Depp is negotiations to star in Lionsgate’s Mortdecai, an adaptation of “The Great Mortdecai Moustache Mystery” by Kyril Bonfiglioli, says The Hollywood Reporter.
Depp will be reuniting with Secret Window writer/director David Koepp on the project. Koepp will direct the movie from a script he wrote, working off an original draft by Eric Aronson.
According to the trade, Depp will star as Charles Mortdecai, a debonair art dealer and part time rogue who must traverse the globe armed only with his good looks and special charm in a race to recover a stolen painting rumored to contain the code to a lost bank account filled with Nazi gold.
