Boston Marathon Bombing Book Optioned by The Fighter Writers

Deadline is reporting that Eric Johnson and Paul Tamasy, two of the three writers of Mark Wahlberg’s Oscar-winning boxing drama The Fighter, have picked up the feature rights to Boston Strong, an upcoming book by Casey Sherman and Boston Herald reporter Dave Wedge that looks at the city’s reaction to the deadly April 15 attacks at the Boston Marathon finish line and the search for the brothers responsible.

The book is scheduled to be published next year by the University Press of New England and it’s the second book by Sherman that Johnson, Tamasy and their producer Dorothy Aufiero have worked on, having penned a screenplay for Disney based on Sherman and Michael J. Touglas’ 2009 book The Finest Hours. That one is based on a 1952 Coast Guard oil tanker rescue and RED and Flightplan director Robert Schwentke is attached to direct it.
