Warner Bros. Passes on Dumb and Dumber Sequel

“We got no food. No jobs. Our pets’ heads are falling off!” Jim Carrey’s Lloyd laments to Jeff Daniels’ Harry in the original Dumb and Dumber.

Today, the pair’s troubles look like they’re only going to continue as The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Warner Bros. has decided not to move forward with the proposed sequel, Dumb and Dumber To. There is still some hope, however, that the project could find a new home at another studio.

ComingSoon.net was first to break the news that Carrey and Daniels were in discussions to develop a sequel to their 1994 comedy hit and recent reports have suggested that the plot will follow Harry and Lloyd 20 years later trying to track down one of their children.

The original Dumb and Dumber represented one of Carrey’s breakout comedy roles. The film was given a prequel in 2003 with Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd, but without the creative involvement of the Farrellys.
