Tom Hardy and Takashi Miike Board The Outsider

One of the scripts to make the 2011 “Black List” of unproduced screenplays, Andrew Baldwin’s The Outsider, is moving forward with some prime talent involved. Deadline reports that Ichi the Killer and Audition director Takashi Miike is planning on helming with Tom Hardy signing on to play the lead.

Based on an idea by John Linson, the script’s official tagline reads as follows:

“In post World War II Japan, an American former prisoner-of-war rises in the yakuza.”

Linson will produce alongside his father, Art Linson, as well as with Steve Richards, Andrew Rona and Joel Silver.

Plans are underway for a 2014 shoot in Japan.
