Check Out the First Image From the Live Action Kiki’s Delivery Service

Currently in production in Japan, Kiki’s Delivery Service offers a live-action take on the Eiko Kadono book series that was famously adapted for the big screen by Studio Ghibli and writer-director Hayao Miyazaki in 1989. Today, Japanese film site Eigo has revealed (via Twitch) the first image from the film, which stars Fûka Koshiba in the title role.

Said to adapt the first two novels in the series, the live-action film follows the adventures of a young witch, Kiki and her cat, Jiji.

Takashi Shimizu, best known for directing the original Japanese version of The Grudge, is helming the production, which is expected to hit theaters in Japan in 2014.
