Magnet Releasing Takes Big Bad Wolves

The Wagner/Cuban Company’s Magnet Releasing, the genre arm of Magnolia Pictures, announced today that they’ve acquired all North American rights for the film Big Bad Wolves from XYZ Films.

Described as “a darkly funny, ingeniously crafted Israeli thriller,” Big Bad Wolves was written and directed by Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado and stars Lior Ashkenazi, Rotem Keinan, Tzahi Grad and Dov Glickman. It was produced by Chilik Michaeli, Avraham Pirchi, Tami Leon, Moshe Edery and Leon Edery.

In Big Bad Wolves a series of brutal murders puts the lives of three men on a collision course: The father of the latest victim now out for revenge, a vigilante police detective operating outside the boundaries of law, and the main suspect in the killings – a religious studies teacher arrested and released due to a police blunder.

“The pitch black humor in ‘Big Bad Wolves’ could only succeed with truly deft, intelligent filmmaking,” said Magnolia President Eamonn Bowles. “With this wonderfully nasty and thrilling film, Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado have proven themselves to be major talents with big careers ahead of them.”

The film originally had its World Premiere at this past Tribeca Film Festival and will next screen at the upcoming Marché du Film via 6 SALES, who will be handling international rights. The film will screen Wednesday, May 15th at 4:00pm at Olympia 6 and Saturday, May 18th at 8:00pm at Riviera 4. Magnet is planning a theatrical release for the film later this year.
