Tom Welling is the latest name to join the cast of Ivan Reitman’s upcoming sport comedy Draft Day. Deadline reports that he’ll play a quarterback named Brian Drew opposite Kevin Costner, Jennifer Garner, Ellen Burstyn, Denis Leary, Frank Langella, Chadwick Boseman, Terry Crews, Sean Combs and many more.
The Paramount Pictures football comedy arrives from Rajiv Joseph and Scott Rothman and centers around the NFL’s draft and sees the general manager of the Cleveland Browns going to any length to secure his top pick.
Welling is best known for his ten-season portrayal of Clark Kent on the DC Comics television series “Smallville.” On the big screen, Welling has appeared in films like Cheaper by the Dozen and The Fog.
Reitman, who will also produce through The Montecito Picture Company, last directed 2011’s No Strings Attached, also for Paramount.
