New Details on Henry Cavill’s Superman Suit

We’ve seen our fair share of images of Henry Cavill as Superman in the upcoming Man of Steel, but apparently we haven’t seen anything yet. In an interview with JTM Games, actor Mackenzie Gray, whose role in the film is reportedly “top secret,” gave a little more insight into the detail of Cavill’s suit.

“Oh yeah, amount of detail on Superman is unbelievable. Superman’s costume, is a three-layer costume; there’s a body-skin layer and then there’s a muscle layer that was molded to Henry’s muscles – it’s a silver, metallic rubber – and then over that is a mesh skin so whenever he turns into light it looks like he’s made of steel….It’s just incredible, the design of the film is fantastic. All the concepts and the designs is just remarkable and they didn’t have to build fake muscles for Henry because he’s really built.”

The film, which hits 3D, 2D and IMAX theaters on June 14, stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer, Christopher Meloni, Russell Crowe, Michael Kelly, Harry Lennix and Richard Schiff.

In the film, a young boy learns that he has extraordinary powers and is not of this Earth. As a young man, he journeys to discover where he came from and what he was sent here to do. But the hero in him must emerge if he is to save the world from annihilation and become the symbol of hope for all mankind.
