FilmDistrict announced today the launch of High Top Releasing, a new boutique label which will provide theatrical booking services to independent producers. This new label, which will exist as a standalone subsidiary under FilmDistrict, will provide distribution-for-hire services including sales, in-theatre marketing and print control support, film rental negotiation and collection capabilities to independent producers who have the ability to provide their own prints-and-advertising and marketing resources.
The FilmDistrict business plan, which calls for the release of six to nine films a year, leaves us capable of providing additional theatrical distribution services, said Peter Schlessel, FilmDistricts CEO. We are proud to be able to support independent producers and assist these movies in their theatrical release.
Films released under the High Top moniker will be distinct from FilmDistrict and will not be accounted for in the studios box-office revenue share. The label will launch with the release of romantic drama I’m in Love with a Church Girl, in association with Mission Pictures Releasing, which stars rapper Ja Rule, alongside Adrianne Bailon and Michael Madsen; and The Ultimate Life, sequel to The Ultimate Gift, starring Peter Fonda, Logan Bartholemew , Bill Cobbs, Lee Meriwhether and Ali Hillis.
