Tim Burton to Direct Christoph Waltz and Amy Adams in Big Eyes

In development for some time, production on the Margaret Keane biopic Big Eyes is finally moving forward as Deadline reports that Tim Burton plans to make it his next film with Christoph Waltz and Amy Adams headlining.

Adams will play Keane, the painter whose distinctive creations featuring big-eyed children became one of art’s first mass-market success stories in the 1950s. The drama covers Keane’s personal awakening at the onset of the feminist movement, leading to a lawsuit she filed against her husband, Walter (Waltz), who claimed credit for her works.

Waltz moves to Big Eyes following his Academy Award win for Django Unchained. Adams herself was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Paul Thomas Anderson’s The Master.

The script for Big Eyes arrives from Alexander and Larry Karaszewski, who previously worked with Burton on Ed Wood.
