Jay Roach to Direct Lance Armstrong Scandal Project

Earlier this year, it was announced that Paramount Pictures and Bad Robot Productions were again teaming for an adaptation of Juliet Macur’s non-fiction book Cycle of Lies, following the drug scandal surrounding repeat Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong. Today, Deadline brings word that Warner Bros. is working on their own version of the true story and that Jay Roach has signed on to direct.

Specifics are not yet known regarding precisely what approach Roach will take to the story, but he’ll be working from a screenplay by Scott Z. Burns (Side Effects, Contagion) and has secured life rights to Armstrong’s racing partner Tyler Hamilton.

Roach, whose recent TV project have included Game Change and Recount, is best known for his big screen comedies, including Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery, Meet the Parents and, most recently, The Campaign.
