The 2017 movie season has nearly run its course, with only a handful of Christmas releases and Oscar bait still to come before the year closes. Thus, it is time to start looking forward to all the cinematic bliss in store for 2018, including more DC, Marvel and Star Wars! ComingSoon.net editors Jenna Busch, Spencer Perry and Max Evry have chosen their most eagerly-anticipated 2018 movies to give you an idea of what’s ahead at your local multiplex in the coming year. Check out all three lists below and let us know what your most anticipated 2018 movies are in the comments!

Jenna Busch‘s Most Anticipated 2018 Movies

Black Panther

I’ve loved the character of Black Panther for years, and getting to see him on the big screen in earlier Marvel films was wonderful. To get a chance to see Wakanda, the powerful female warriors there and a whole different part of the MCU is incredibly exciting.

Avengers: Infinity War

Of course I’m looking forward to this. It’s the beginning of the culmination of what we’ve been seeing for the past ten years. The big draw, however, is seeing how they’re going to merge the personalities of the Guardians with the rest of the group.

Solo: A Star Wars Story

Despite the production issues with this film, I’m dying to see what happens with a young Han and Lando, and the relationship they have. One of the things I loved about the first Star Wars films is that they just throw you into the middle of the story, letting you imagine what came before. Now, after all these years, we actually get to see it!

Ready Player One

The Ernest Cline novel is one of my favorites. I wasn’t jazzed by the first images and trailer, but after seeing the latest one and all the ‘80s references in it, I’m totally on board. Please just let Art3mis be what she is in the book!

Incredibles 2

The first film is one of my favorite Pixar films (and I bet it’s one of yours). I’m on board with the fact that it begins just minutes after the last film and I can’t wait to see what happens. (Anyone making a Fantastic Four movie in the future would do well to model it after this.)

A Wrinkle in Time

I loved the book since I was a kid, and I love the casting. We’ve got Ava DuVernay as a director, Oprah and Mindy Kaling in the film, and the trailer got me totally excited to see what I’ve imagined in my mind for years. By the way, the sequels to the book are amazing.

Ant-Man and The Wasp

I loved Ant-Man, and the fact that we’re getting another female superhero in the Wasp is fantastic. Plus, I’m a big fan of humorous superhero films. I know not everyone is, but I found the first one super charming. Add Michelle Pfeiffer and give me more Michael Peña and I’m totally on board.

Aquaman

Justice League had a ton of flaws (though I did have fun watching), but one thing I was happy about was Aquaman. I kind of wish they’d done the solo film first. I think it would have given the character more impact in Justice League. I’m looking forward to seeing his origin story (something I never thought I’d say) and maybe figure out what he’s doing with all those jackets he tosses away.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Gridewald

I’m a huge Harry Potter fan and I loved the first film. Yes, I know not everyone did, but anything that draws me into a universe like that makes me happy. I got to visit the set in London a while back and all I can say is that I’m thrilled to see where they take it. Plus, young Dumbledore!

Ocean’s 8

Whether or not this film lives up to the earlier ones, it’s got Cate Blanchett, Sandra Bullock, Anne Hathaway, Sarah Paulson, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaline, Adriana Lima, Rihanna…need I say more?

Spencer Perry‘s Most Anticipated 2018 Movies

Black Panther

Black Panther, while seemingly painting with Marvel’s regular stable of brushes, looks like it will be a picture that stands out from the rest of their gallery. It also looks like the shot of adrenaline we all need before Infinity War.

The Strangers: Prey at Night

By the time this movie comes out, I will have been waiting nearly a decade for it! Ten years! The film seems less like a sequel and more like a soft-reboot, but I’m still here for those three masked crazies to terrorize a family.

Tomb Raider

The recent video games by Crystal Dynamics have proven the Tomb Raider franchise is capable of telling grand cinematic stories in games, so I’m excited to see another attempt at it on the actual big screen.

Pacific Rim Uprising

I’m an unabashed fan of the first film, and giant monsters overall, so I’m pretty excited to see what the next chapter in the series offers us (hopefully just a lot of robot punching).

Avengers: Infinity War

If you’re not excited about this one, you may not have a pulse. Marvel Studios has been building to this moment since Iron Man in 2008 and it will be nice to finally see all the toys playing in one toybox.

The Predator

A new Shane Black joint is always cause for celebration because few are capable of retooling something that already exists into something fresh and unique like Black, and if there’s something that needs a fresh perspective it’s The Predator. This also might be the last time we get to see him on the big screen after the Disney/Fox merger closes.

The Happytime Murders

The world needs more raunchy R-rated puppet movies, and by the time it’s released, The Happytime Murders will have been in-development for ten years (are you sensing a pattern about films coming in 2018?). Not to mention that the film will be directed by Brian Henson, son of legendary Jim Henson.

Halloween

John Carpenter’s classic is what got me into horror films, so I shamelessly pray at the alter of the franchise with all its ups and downs. There’s also the fact it hails from David Gordon Green and Danny McBride, which is the kind of wacky combination I just have to see.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse

Before the film’s trailer and full title were released, this wouldn’t have landed on my list, but the fact that an animated film will be making itself look like a comic book makes me stoked. Also the fact that we will be seeing all kinds of different Spider-Men on the big screen is exciting as a multiverse fan. I half expect Tobey Maguire to return to voice one of them.

Aquaman

There are a few factors that make this can’t miss: James Wan makes movies that are as entertaining as they are unique, Jason Momoa was seemingly born to play Aquaman, and the fact that we’re seeing an Aquaman movie at all is a small miracle. Bring it on. YEAH-UH.

Max Evry‘s Most Anticipated 2018 Movies

#1: The Man Who Killed Don Quixote

After two decades of waiting, director Terry Gilliam’s much-plagued variation on Cervantes’ literary icon finally comes to the screen, with Adam Driver as the titular present-day Man who kills the titular Quixote (Jonathan Pryce).

#2: Under the Silver Lake

I loved rising young filmmaker David Robert Mitchell’s takes on the horror genre (It Follows) and the coming-of-age movie (The Myth of the American Sleepover). Now he’s diving into the world of neo-noir with a contemporary Los Angeles crime movie with some big stars (Andrew Garfield, Riley Keough) in tow.

#3: The Irishman

Martin Scorsese assembles the Scorsesiest cast of all-time, with his big guns Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci and Harvey Keitel all onboard, along with Al Pacino adding to the roster as Jimmy Hoffa. Word is all these screen giants will be digitally de-aged in order to play their characters over a span of several decades.

#4: The Predator

I loves me some Shane Black, especially as he re-teams with his old screenwriting partner Fred Dekker to bring us a full-on Predator epic that’s sure to be pulpy-good fun. Having visited the set, all I can say is this looks like the franchise film for me this year.

#5: Apostle

Having loved his two The Raid movies, it’s a thrill to have Gareth Evans back in the director’s chair. This one centers on a mysterious man (Dan Stevens) who attempts to rescue his sister from a sinister cult.

#6: Radegund

While I haven’t been excited about Terrence Malick’s recent contemporary movies, I do so love the way he transports with his historical films. This one tells the true story of Austrian conscientious objector Franz Jägerstätter (August Diehl), who refused to fight for the Nazis during World War II and was put to death.

#7: The Nightingale

After the astounding horror film The Babadook, filmmaker Jennifer Kent brings us her sophomore effort with this period tale set in 1825 Tasmania, where a female convict seeks revenge on the soldier who killed her family.

#8: Mandy

I have deep love for Panos Cosmatos’ 2010 art horror experiment Beyond the Black Rainbow, so it tickles me to no end to find him teaming up with star Nicolas Cage for a cult revenge film set in the 1980s.

#9: Halloween

Director David Gordon Green (George Washington, Pineapple Express) is the perfect modern day filmmaker to breathe new life into the hollowed-out corpse that is the Halloween franchise. It helps that he’s got original star Jamie Lee Curtis, co-writer Danny McBride, producer Jason Blum and series creator John Carpenter backing his vision of the Michael Myers saga.

#10: The Women of Marwen

Steve Carell will portray Mark Hogancamp, a man who was beaten nearly-to-death outside a bar and lost all memory of his previous life. In order to cope, he builds a miniature fantasy world in his backyard. Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump) will bring Hogancamp’s powerful story to life (likely with some cool effects trickery), based on the terrific 2010 documentary Marwencol.

Also: Black Panther, Annihilation, Isle of Dogs, The New Mutants, TullyAvengers: Infinity War, Alita: Battle Angel, The House with a Clock in Its Walls, Mute, Roma
