Video Interviews with the Midnight Special Cast and Director

Warner Bros. Pictures gave us the opportunity to sit down with the main cast and director of the sci-fi thriller, Midnight Special. We discussed the influence of the 1984 John Carpenter movie Starman, making a movie without any obvious villains, what book or film taught them the most about humanity and, of course, superhero movies. You can check out the interviews with director Jeff Nichols as well as Midnight Special cast members Michael Shannon (Man of Steel), Joel Edgerton (Exodus: Gods and Kings), Kirsten Dunst (Spider-Man) and Jaeden Lieberher (St. Vincent) in the player below!

The film also co-stars Adam Driver, Sam Shepard, Bill Camp, Scott Haze and Paul Sparks.

From Mud and Take Shelter writer and director Jeff Nichols, Midnight Special follows a father (Michael Shannon), who goes on the run to protect his young son, Alton (Jaeden Lieberher), and uncover the truth behind the boy’s special powers. What starts as a race from religious extremists and local law enforcement quickly escalates to a nationwide manhunt involving the highest levels of the Federal Government. Ultimately his father risks everything to protect Alton and help fulfill a destiny that could change the world forever in this genre–defying film as supernatural as it is intimately human.

Sarah Green and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones, who previously collaborated with Nichols on Take Shelter, are producing Midnight Special, with Glen Basner, Hans Graffunder and Christos V. Konstantakopoulos serving as executive producers. Also reuniting with Nichols behind the scenes is director of photography Adam Stone, production designer Chad Keith and editor Julie Monroe. David Wingo is composing the Midnight Special score.

The film is slated to hit the big screen this Friday, March 18.
