CS Video: Percy Jackson & The Olympians

On Friday, Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief, the first movie based on one of Rick Riordan’s popular young adult novels, will be coming to the big screen thanks to director Chris Columbus, and ComingSoon.net had a chance to talk to some of the cast.

For those who haven’t read the books, here’s a little primer before checking out the interviews below:

Logan Lerman plays the title character Percy Jackson, a normal teenager who suffers from dyslexia and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder), who learns that in fact, he’s the son of the Greek God Poseidon, played by Kevin McKidd from “Rome” and “Grey’s Anatomy.” He learns this from his wheelchair-bound teacher Mr. Brunner, played by Pierce Brosnan, who happens to be a centaur named Chiron. At this time, Percy also learns that his wise-cracking best friend Grover (Brandon T. Jackson) is a Satyr, half-man half-goat, who has been assigned to protect Percy.

Percy is brought to Camp Half-Blood where he’s trained along with the other kids of the Greek Gods, one of them being Alexandra Daddario’s Annabeth, daughter of Athena. When Percy’s mother (Catherine Keener) is kidnapped by the dark God Hades, thinking that Percy is responsible for the disappearance of Zeus’ powerful thunderbolt, the three friends must take a trip across America to Hades’ realm. Along the way they encounter a fierce, three-headed Hydra, the deadly snake-headed Medusa played by Uma Thurman, and pass through Las Vegas, before facing Gods up on Mt. Olympus, which happens to be strategically placed high above the Empire State Building.

In fact, that is exactly where ComingSoon.net was brought to talk to some of the cast about the movie, which you can watch in our exclusive CS Video below. In the following interviews, we talk to Logan Lerman, Alexandra Daddario, Brandon T. Jackson and Pierce Brosnan about:

* Their reaction to finding out about the movie
