CS Video: The Cast of Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman: The Secret Service

Five years after adapting Mark Millar’s graphic novel Kick-Ass, director Matthew Vaughn is taking on Kingsman: The Secret Service, a movie concept based on the graphic novel by Millar and Dave Gibbons (Watchmen) that came out of conversations the two had about wanting to pay homage to classic British spies like James Bond, giving them a modern and darkly humorous spin.

Colin Firth plays “gentleman spy” Harry Hart, a long-time member of the mysterious Kingsman, a British spy agency that even the British government doesn’t know about. After a mission gone wrong, Hart takes the son of a dead colleague named Eggsy (Taron Egerton) under his wing and puts him through the rigorous training to become a Kingsman, where the young man from the streets bonds with another recruit named Roxy (Sophie Cookson).

At the same time, a wealthy billionaire named Richmond Valentine (Samuel L. Jackson) has decided to use his wealth and technical knowledge to “save the world” from the growing overpopulation. Along with his right-hand woman Gazelle (Sofia Boutella), an athletic assassin whose legs have been replaced by razor sharp blades, Valentine begins to gather the world’s wealthiest individuals to put them in a safe place while he sets his plan in motion that will rid the earth of billions of the underprivileged.

ComingSoon.net sat down with some of the cast of Vaughn’s film including the two vets, Colin Firth and Samuel L. Jackson, and the three newcomers–Egerton, Cookson and Boutella. We mostly talked with Jackson about his unique approach to creating the film’s villain and spoke with Firth and Egerton about the film’s crazy action sequences, but you can see the highlights of those interviews in the video player below.

Kingsman: The Secret Service opens on Friday, February 13 with previews on Thursday night. Look for our interview with director Matthew Vaughn very soon.
