At Toy Fair 2007, held at the Javits Center in New York, ComingSoon.net had a chance to preview the new line of “Harry Potter” toys and figures from NECA (National Entertainment Collectibles Association), who signed a licensing agreement with Warner Bros. last year to release a line of toys and action figures based on their “Harry Potter” franchise.
They kick things off in March with a line of 7″ action figures including Harry, Voldemort an eerie Dementor and two different Death Eater figures as seen in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
That’s only the start as in May, NECA will release larger action figures of Harry vs. Voldermort with a Thomas Riddle tombstone background, and Series 1 of their 12″ lifelike statues of Harry, Ron, Hermione and Sirius Black, all with the exact likenesses of their movie counterparts. Series 2, which will debut closer to the release of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix will include Professor Snape, Hagrid and something we haven’t seen in the previous movies, the mechanical Death Eater Dummy on which Hogwarts students practice their defense spells.
NECA will also release a string of plush toys based on the Harry Potter creatures including the dragons from the Tri-Wizard Tournament in “Goblet of Fire,” Harry’s owl Hedwig, Crookshanks and Scabbers, Buckbeak and a line of mugs, keychains and the likes. There’s even going to be plush version of the Monster Book of Monsters!
