The Star Wars News Roundup – 1.3.14

The purpose of this roundup is to put the highlights of all things Star Wars from the last week (in this case the last couple of weeks) in one location. If you read this each week, you should be able to converse fluently with any Star Wars fan on everything from the latest Star Wars: Episode VII developments to the latest toys. And maybe you’ll even share with them something that they might have missed.

Let’s get to it!

Episode VII News and Rumors

There hasn’t been much “Episode VII” news the last few weeks, but with the script due soon, you can count on more news coming soon. In the meantime, Ali Arikan added a new rumored start date for filming.

On the spinoff news front, director Jon Schnepp sounded pretty positive about the Boba Fett movie and the writer. Check out Yahoo UK:

In an interview with AMC Movie Talk, Jon Schnepp (director of TV show ‘Metalocalypse’) claims that a Boba Fett spin-off movie is definitely happening. “One of them is Boba Fett,” he said of the planned spin-off movies. “It is. I know. I know for a fact. I will never reveal my source, but it is the one written by Lawrence Kasdan.”

Would Kasdan be writing both “Episode VII” and a Boba Fett spinoff? We’ll see.

Television

TheForce.Net caught a small blurb on Screen Crush that stated Tim Curry would be reprising his role voicing the Emperor on “Star Wars Rebels.” While this would be nice, the source doesn’t seem particularly solid. Look for casting announcements in early 2014.
