CS Video: Christopher Eccleston on Playing Malekith in Thor: The Dark World

By ON

Stepping in as the big bad for Marvel Studios’ second solo Thor film, Christopher Eccleston stars as the Dark Elf Malekith in director Alan Taylor’s Thor: The Dark World. In the film, Malekith leads an army of his people in his quest to control the Ether, a powerful intergalactic force as old as the universe itself and that has the power to return reality to total darkness.

ComingSoon.net caught up with Eccleston at the London junket for the November 8 release and, as you can watch in the player below, he discusses his preparation for the role, his eerily quiet take on a blockbuster villain and his seeming tendency to appear in nerd-friendly projects like Thor: The Dark World, G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and “Doctor Who.”

Also, if you missed them, be sure to watch our previous conversations with stars Tom Hiddleston, Kat Dennings, director Alan Taylor and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige. Check back soon, too, for video interviews with both Natalie Portman and Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth.
