CS Video: Jon Chu, D.J. Cotrona and Adrianne Palicki on G.I. Joe: Retaliation

With the first screenings hitting theaters this evening, Jon M. Chu’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation returns fans to the bigger-than-life action adventure world of Hasbro’s iconic toy line. Blending nearly 50 years of toys, cartoons, comic books and childhood imagination, Retaliation features a diverse ensemble that includes D.J. Cotrona, Byung-hun Lee, Adrianne Palicki, Ray Park, Jonathan Pryce, Ray Stevenson, Channing Tatum, Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson.

Set some time after the events of G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra, the film begins with the villainous Zartan having taken over the White House, posing as the President of the United States. There, he institutes Cobra as the nation’s security team and orders that the Joes be taken down with extreme prejudice. Roadblock (Johnson), Flint (Cotrona) and Lady Jaye (Palicki) are left to gather a team from across the globe and take on an entire army of madmen intent on world domination.

ComingSoon.net spoke with Chu, Cotrona and Palicki about growing up Joe fans and what hidden references fans should look out for when they check out the film. Chu also goes into detail about the film’s epic ninja attack sequence which, in an homage to the classic “Silent Interlude” comic book, plays out without any dialogue.
