A charming story of young people struggling with their neuroses as they negotiate relationships with equal degrees of passion and indecision. Protagonist Kim Joong-rae is a filmmaker with writer's block. He convinces his friend Chang-wook to join him on a mind-clearing trip to an off-season beach resort, but when the friend brings along his vivacious, quasi-girlfriend Moon-sook (played by Ko Hyun-Joung, a Korean TV superstar, making her feature film debut), alignments shift and shades of "Jules and Jim" and "Vertigo" abound. Satirizing the immaturity of young Korean men and their inept efforts to find satisfaction, Hong Sang-soo has crafted a deceptively simple ode to the complexities of juggling art and love.
