The film about the children’s author responsible for books like “The Cat in the Hat” and “How the Grinch Stole Christmas!” will be directed by Stephen Chbosky ("Wonder"). The film will tell the story of Geisel in the 1920s before meeting future wife Helen Palmer, who helps him become Dr. Seuss. Her sudden illness cripples her and she inspires him to be the author we know today. Theodore Geisel wrote over 60 children’s books after failing to get his first one “And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street” published. He also worked as an illustrator and a political cartoonist. He finally published the book in 1937.
