Plot Summary:

John Shea and Lea Thompson light up the screen in this intimate pas de deux about Robert and Emily, a divorced couple on the rebound from each other. Robert is a talented middle-aged jazz musician who’s settled for playing piano in a hotel bar and he likes it that way—low overhead, minimal commitments and the freedom to believe that he lives life as he chooses. When his daughter Jenny (Danielle Harris) tells him that she’s about to get married, he advises her against it. Citing his own failed marriage to Jenny’s mom, Emily, who’s now remarried and a successful novelist, he doesn’t understand why anyone would want to give up their independence. Yet, when he and Emily reunite for dinner and drinks, dredge up old memories, reflect on their current lives, and admit their feelings for each other, it gradually becomes clear that things are more complicated than that.
