Bornless Ones Raises The Evil Dead

Cabin in the woods creeper Bornless Ones hits theaters and VOD in February

Back in 1973, when The Exorcist was released and shook the spines of audiences ’round the world, everybody and their uncle tried to ride on its coattails, shamelessly (and often wonderfully) ripping off the film to chase a few of the pennies dropping from Warner Bros.’ pockets.

It happens. That’s the nature of the exploitation film. And carrying on in that grand tradition — judging by the trailer and synopsis, anyway — is writer/director Alexander Babaev‘s new “cabin in the woods” creeper Bornless Ones. The film looks like a high-stress and bloody clone of Fede Alvarez‘s Evil Dead remake. Like… it looks exactly like the Evil Dead remake.

The film stars The Newsroom’s Margaret Judson and Teen Wolf’s Michael Johnston and will be hitting limited theatrical and unlimited VOD on February 10.

Synopsis: Having just moved to a remote home near an institution to better care for her brother Zach, Emily invites a few friends over to help her unpack. They soon discover strange symbols etched into the boards on the windows. In an effort to clean the house they clear them away, soon realizing the gravity of their mistake as they one by one become possessed by an evil force.

Bornless Ones also stars Margaret Judson, Devin Goodsell, Michael Johnston, Mark Furze, Bobby T, and David Banks. Check out the trailer below. It actually looks like a tons of fun and is surprisingly slick. But man… if imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, Sam Raimi and Alvarez should be honored!
