Circle February 23rd on your calendars as our friends at Scream Factory have just announced that they will be releasing the double shot of director David Keiths THE CURSE and the unrelated but still cool sssssssequel CURSE II: THE BITE on a single Blu-ray.
THE CURSE (aka THE FARM) is an especially good film, an Italian funded, Ovidio G. Assonitis (TENTACLES) produced (and co-produced by Lucio Fulci!) adaptation of Lovecrafts The Colour Out of Space, starring STAND BY ME and STAR TREK: TNG actor Will Wheaton as a farm boy who watches in horror as the crops turn tainted and his family morph into bloodthirsty zombie monsters. Atmospheric and icky, this writer cannot wait to revisit the picture. Its been sometime but I remember being quite freaked out by it. Also stars THE TWILIGHT ZONE and BATTLE FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES actor Claude Akins.
CURSE II: THE BITE is an in-name only follow-up starring THE STEPFATHERs Jill Schoelen, whose husband is bitten by a radioactive snake and begins to turn into a snake. More of a weird mash-up of THE BAT PEOPLE and SSSSSSS; speaking of mash, M*A*S*H star Jamie Farr, Klinger himself, also stars along with WALKING TALL: PART IIs Bo Svenson.
No extras save trailers to speak of, but man, what a great pair of Friday night freak outs.
