A24 to Produce Krisha Director’s It Comes at Night

At March’s SXSW, Krisha was all many could talk about. The Thanksgiving-set family reunion drama took home the festival’s grand jury and audience awards for narrative feature and, after much acclaim, has now secured release from A24. Not only that, the distributor has struck a multi-picture deal with Krisha director Trey Edward Shults, who will make the jump to horror with the A24-produced It Comes at Night

Deadline reports It Comes at Night is “about a father who will stop at nothing to protect his wife and son from a malevolent, mysterious presence terrorizing them right outside their doorstep.” Krisha heralds Shults as a talent to watch, much like Myth of the American Sleepover did for David Robert Mitchell, who went on to craft the tremendous It Follows. Will this yield a similar outcome?

A24 says Shults is “an artist on the rise and we are proud to partner with him. His unique approach, singular style, confident storytelling and edge shines through Krisha and we are excited to collaborate with such an exceptionally talented filmmaker at the beginning of what will no doubt be a long, celebrated career.”

A24 currently has the brilliant Ex Machina in theaters. Later this year, they’ll release Sundance standout and horror knockout, The Witch
