[TV] New Salem Trailer, Penny Premiere Moved

Two period horror series are entering their second seasons this spring. WGN America’s Salem has debuted a new teaser for its ‘Witch War,’ while the stunning looking continuation of Showtime’s Penny Dreadful has been pushed back.

Showtime announced today that Penny Dreadful’s ten-episode second season will premiere Sunday, May 3rd, a week after its previously announced April 26th. In the season, “Vanessa Ives (Eva Green) and Ethan Chandler (Josh Hartnett) form a deeper bond as the group, including Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton), Dr. Frankenstein (Harry Treadaway), and Sembene (Danny Sapani), unite to banish the evil forces that threaten to destroy them. Meanwhile, Dorian Gray (Reeve Carney), the Creature (Rory Kinnear) and Brona (Billie Piper) are all waging battles of their own. Patti LuPone will guest star as a mysterious character of great importance in Vanessa’s past. Helen McCrory returns as Evelyn Poole (a.k.a. Madame Kali), the seductive spiritualist who will pose a unique threat to our protagonists this season, along with Simon Russell Beale, who is back as eccentric Egyptologist Ferdinand Lyle.”

Meanwhile, Salem returns Sunday, April 5th and anticipates such with a stylish, sultry new clip. Quick question for those reading and have seen all of Season One: Should I get into it? Should I catch up in time for this impending Witch War that’s promised?
