While the Alamo Drafthouse is celebrating Valentines Day in their own Italian style, Robert Rodriguez El Rey Networkwho increasingly exhibit taste in genre film programmingis showcasing some classic, obsessive Italian horror and filmmakers over the course of the romantic day.
Beginning with Palo Cavaras Black Belly of the Tarantula and rolling on with Bruno Matteis Rats, Argentos incredible Opera, Fulcis City of the Living Dead and The New York Ripper and perhaps weirdly, Bob Clarks Deathdream, the El Rey, V-Day ‘Rip Your Heart Out Marathon’ gets underway at 11 a.m. on February 14th.

Inspector Tellini investigates serial crimes where victims are paralyzed while having their bellies ripped open with a sharp knife, much in the same way tarantulas are killed by the black wasp. As suspects keep dying, Inspector directs his attention to a spa all the victims had a connection with.

A reporter and a psychic race to close the Gates of Hell after the suicide of a clergyman caused them to open, allowing the dead to rise from the grave.
