Paramount Dates The Ring, Friday the 13th and Paranormal Activity Sequels

Paramount Pictures has today adjusted its upcoming slate of horror films, bumping Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension from March 13 of this year to October 23 and moving Friday the 13th from its November 13, 2015 release to May 13, 2016. It’s not all delays, however, as Rings, the third film in the studio’s The Ring franchise, will take Friday the 13th‘s original date this November 13.

Details are few on the plot of Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension, but the new date will bring the film closer in line with the franchise’s traditional Halloween-centric releases. On October 23, The Ghost Dimension will open opposite Breck Eisner’s The Last Witch Hunter (starring Vin Diesel), Jon M. Chu’s 80s cartoon adaptation Jem and the Holograms, and a still-unrevealed Warner Bros. horror film.

Rings, meanwhile, is set to star Matilda Lutz and will open opposite both an untitled New Line comedy and Barry Levinson’s crime drama Rock the Kasbah, starring Shia LaBeouf, Zooey Deschanel, Bruce Willis, Kate Hudson, Bill Murray and Danny McBride.

The new Friday the 13th, finally, will face off against an untitled comedy from Universal Pictures. Directed by David Bruckner, the film will mark the 13th film overall in the Friday the 13th franchise.
