Annapurna and VICE to Produce Girl Walks Home Alone Director’s The Bad Batch

VICE, who teamed with Kino Lorber on the release of Ana Lily Amirpour’s breakthrough, fantastic debut  A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night is now partnering with Megan Ellison and her celebrated Annapurna Pictures to produce the filmmaker’s follow-up, The Bad Batch

Southern-set and dystopian, The Bad Batch has previously been described by Amirpour as a “post-apocalyptic cannibal love story set in a Texas wasteland.” Of the plot, she later added, “A muscled cannibal breaks the rule ‘don’t play with your food. It’s Road Warrior meets Pretty in Pink with a dope soundtrack.”

The teaming of Annapurna, who’s garnered a reputation for supporting exciting filmmakers—Paul Thomas Anderson, Harmony Korine, Kathryn Bigelow—and Amirpour is surely something to be thrilled about. A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night is one of the best films of 2014, full stop and is clearly the introduction of a tremendous voice.
