MondoCon: Death Waltz Records Heads into the Berberian Sound Studio to Bring The Equestrian Vortex

That’s the film within Berberian Sound Studio with the terrific theme musical and credits sequence. The Equestrian Vortex is arguably the best thing about Peter Strickland’s movie starring Toby Jones.

So, what will be included on this? I’m told this will include that awesome main title track, screams and other goodies that are connected with this giallo that doesn’t really exist. More details will be revealed soon.

Berberian Sound Studio opened in 2013. The film takes place in 1976 and follows a mild-mannered British sound engineer named Gilderoy (Jones), who arrives in Rome to work on the post-synchronized soundtrack to “The Equestrian Vortex,” a tale of witchcraft and murder set inside an all-girl riding academy. But as Gilderoy begins to work on this unexpectedly terrifying project, it’s his own mind that holds the real horrors. As the line between film and reality blurs, is Gilderoy working on a film – or in one?

Death Waltz was at MondoCon not just as a dealer at MondoCon. The company put on a presentation of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre with a live score by Anton Maoif and Umberto; attendees received vinyl copies of the soundtrack. They’ll also be putting on a similar performance on September 27th in Los Angeles at Beyond Fest. You’ll be able to pick up the TCM vinyl there as well.
