Eli Roth’s The Green Inferno Release Delayed Indefinitely

The site says Open Road isn’t revealing whether the film will be getting a new release date soon or go direct-to-video.

Why is this happening? Deadline explains it’s “because financier Worldview Entertainment is balking at ex-CEO Christopher Woodrow’s commitment to provide the P&A.”

Naturally, P&A (prints and advertising) is a rather large component to a film’s release.

This is Eli Roth’s first feature directorial effort since Hostel: Part II and it’s truly a bummer to hear there’s drama surrounding this film’s release. If you’d like to read about the particulars of the drama, click here.

Amazing that this cannibal film is having release problems not because of its subject matter (the cannibal genre has had a checkered past) but because of behind-the-scenes business dealings.

The Green Inferno follows a group of student activists who from New York City travel to the Amazon to protect a dying tribe, but crash in the jungle and are taken hostage by the very natives they saved. The film has been enjoying a good run on the festival circuit. I caught it at Fantastic Fest last fall and dug the hell out of it.

We’ll keep you posted if any other news comes in!
