The Poughkeepsie Tapes Pulled from VOD, Here’s Why…

I ran into John and Drew Dowdle at Comic-Con today – where they are promoting As Above, So Below, their new horror film opening in theaters next month – and I congratulated them on Poughkeepsie‘s release. They admitted to not knowing about the VOD release until they read about the news on Shock Till You Drop, but they were quick to point out that if you look for it on VOD now…it has been pulled.

Drew explains:

“Suddenly over the last month MGM has been interested in a higher profile release of The Poughkeepsie Tapes. It’s no longer on VOD, they yanked it, but it will be coming back in a multi-platform release this fall. It’s come back to life.”

This isn’t confirmed, but it sounds to me like MGM is aiming for a limited theatrical/VOD release. Exciting news as I know a lot of fans who were eager to see the film wanted to catch it on the big screen.

Now, we just wait for the details. As always, I’ll keep you posted…
