American Horror Story: Freakshow is in production, on track for an October debut on FX. This season promises to be a real ride as it is set against the backdrop of a traveling freakshow. Akin to American Horror Story: Asylum, the story arc is a period piece and it is set in the '50s.
Jessica Lange, Michael Chiklis, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Jamie Brewer, Denis O'Hare and Frances Conroy are back. Also worth noting: Showrunner Ryan Murphy said to expect an evil, deranged clown somewhere in the mix.
Recently, we learned that Sarah Paulson would be playing conjoined twins (get a look at some concept art here). By the time this summer is over, I have no doubt we will know all of the characters featured on this season. Today, the details of Chiklis' role have been brought into the spotlight.
TV Line writes:
Franchise virgin Michael Chiklis will be playing “a strong man who’s married to Angela Bassett[‘s character],” exec producer Ryan Murphy told us at Thursday’s Critics Choice Awards, where he was honored with the Louis XIII Genius Award. “He has scenes with Angela and Jessica Lange and [onscreen ex] Kathy Bates. I love the part because it’s really written to be quite vulnerable, which is something I think Michael does so well – the strong man who’s vulnerable. I’m very excited to see [him] tussle with all those great ladies. And he’s really up for it, really excited about it.”
Chiklis? A strong man? Get out of town…
Good casting! What do you think?
