Maniac Cop is based on the 1988 film directed by Lustig and written by Larry Cohen and concerns a…well, maniac dressed in a police officer’s uniform who goes on killing spree in New York City.
Back in 2012, Cohen had stated the intent was to do more of a prequel with the Refn project. But that intent seems to have given way to more of a “remake” approach.
