The rights to Stephen King's latest short story "Bad Little Kid" have been snatched up. The Hollywood Reporter says they went to Laurent Bouzereau who intends to groom the story into a feature film he'll direct.
Bouzereau and "King" go way back. He used to produce various bonus content for special editions of Christine, Pet Sematary and various other King films. In 2011, he directed the TCM special A Night at the Movies: The Horrors of Stephen King.
"Bad Little Kid" was released in March as an ebook short story geared for his fans in Europe (a "thank you" for their hospitality, apparently, when he visited last year). The tale "centers on a man whose life changes forever when he realizes that a mysterious boy is causing the deaths of people he loves."
Bouzereau still has a bit to go before a film becomes a reality as optioning the rights are merely the beginning of the process. We'll keep you posted if this all comes to fruition!
